You may have sought advice from various sources, but let's debunk the myths holding you back.

Many people believe that you have to work in a Fortune 500 company or be part of a 20-person team to see true growth in your role, but that may be holding you back.

If you're grappling with work-life balance, you’re in the right place!

Ready to get into what goes into making strides in your career?

Always Remember to Challenge Limiting Beliefs

If you've been hindered by self-doubt, it's time to challenge those thoughts. Reflect on why you hold these beliefs and who benefits from them. Overcoming these barriers is key.

Remember, many successful HR leaders have faced similar doubts and fears but persevered through them. By confronting your limiting beliefs head-on, you can unlock your full potential and achieve your career aspirations.

My Routine for Career Success

I am happy to say that I have grown my career from unpaid intern to executive leadership, and my routine directly influences my ability to not just set better goals but to meet them time after time.

A day in my work life looks a little like this:

  • Morning: I keep detailed lists to keep me on track, and everyday starts with looking at these lists to see where I left off the day prior, what needs to get done this week, and what am I working on with others. Without a plan guiding you to the next activity, anything goes! And that’s a dangerous place to be. Trust me, I know from experience.

  • Mid-Day: I always make time to break away from the office—either for lunch, a drive, or a quiet moment in my car alone. This time in the middle of the day helps time slow down a bit and gives me a moment to refresh my mind. It’s easy to rush past the day and forget to take a break, but I’ve learned the hard way that this only makes you feel worse at the end of the day.

  • End of Day: At the close of each day, I work hard to leave space to close the loop on as much as I can, review and respond to emails, and prep my lists and calendar for the next day. This truly is a system that works for me so well, I’ve created resources to help others do the same. It’s also important to note that the way you end your day is just as important as how you begin it. Your ability to go home with a clear a mind as possible is critical.

How is your routine helping you meet your goals? Don’t be afraid to change it up when things don’t work. It's not just about productivity; it's also about balance and well-being.

Incorporating activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul can enhance your overall effectiveness and resilience in pursuing your career goals. Experiment with different routines until you find one that aligns with your values and goals.

Whatever works for you is what will work best for helping keep you focused to meet your biggest goals.

Some Advice from Megan Robinson, Leadership Coach

I like to shake it up with info from all over the web. My colleague, Megan Robinson, has some critical advice for you. She says, “leadership is impossible without some self-reflection and the capacity to understand who you are.”

You Need Discipline

Now, just because you currently don't have the title you want yet, doesn’t mean you can’t level-up the way you show up in your day right now.

Building discipline is key to achieving your goals. Start by setting clear, achievable objectives for yourself each day and holding yourself accountable to them. Consistency is key; even small actions repeated daily can lead to significant progress over time.

Before you can reach your desired milestone, such as launching your dog walking business or building your first house, you must cultivate discipline in your daily routines and habits. This means prioritizing tasks, managing your time effectively, and staying focused on your long-term goals. Remember, discipline is not about perfection but about making consistent progress towards your objectives.

Let's be specific in planning how you will gain the essential discipline you need:

  • Step #1: Identify your priorities and create a daily schedule that aligns with your goals.

  • Step #2: Break down your larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks, and establish deadlines for completion.

  • Step #3: Practice self-discipline by staying committed to your schedule, even when faced with distractions or challenges.

Because I know how important discipline is, I put together this free (really free!) guide for you. Use it to cultivate discipline in your daily routines and habits, ultimately leading to greater productivity and success.
